I was supposed to be happy here

The move from Maine back home to Florida was supposed to be for the better of everyone. Instead, I lost everything. I have to start again, even worse than when I left- at least then I had my own car and a dog everyone liked. Immediately upon my return I struggled with exhaustion. Then I got a job, which while still exhausting me at least I'm out of the house and in better shape. I was able to start saving so that I could take my girlfriend on dates like she wanted. Then, because I am God's silliest clown, a car crash ended everything. No more car. No more ability to save. No more girlfriend. Just me and a dog nobody else likes. She's been officially disowned as a foster we were supposed to get rid of. Right now she's sitting next to me and rolling around on the couch, being cute. And now I have to consider getting rid of her, because nobody else likes her, and I can't stay here. The only people I can trust, that I can rely on, that I can turn to are all so far away from me. I am an island. An island housing a dog. An island sinking into an ocean of sadness. I know she can find a new family, and live a long happy life without me. But I can't do the same. I'm turning twenty-nine and I have nothing. I'm praying Serenity, but I'm struggling to find the light. Maybe I left my heart in Madawaska, Maine.
